Best Bar None
Sponsored by ![]()
What is it all about?
The scheme will benchmark clubs and bars on their performance against set criteria, to include: health and safety, licensing regulation, fire safety, codes of practice and other relevant criteria. This criteria focuses on the four principles of the licensing Act 2003 which are -
- reduction of crime and disorder
- public safety
- reduction of public nuisance
- protection of children from harm
It is essential to understand that this is a reward scheme, not a legal or licensing requirement, where all venues passing the minimum standard will be accredited. The best venue and runner-up in each sector (Bar, Pub, and Club) will receive an award, and finally the best overall venue will be awarded the Best Bar None accolade. Additional awards may be raised by sponsors.
This is a national project successfully operated throughout the UK. The timing is now right for Bournemouth to consolidate the work of Town Watch in the responsible management of the night time economy and raise the profile of the work carried out by the licensed venues in the town.
This is also a flagship project for Bournemouth which takes a certified approach to excellent management of the Night Time Economy, and we are looking for committed and practical support from all sectors of the town and all stakeholders to the night time sector, either as supporters or sponsors. This will not only ensure the success of the 2008 Awards, but the sustainability of the scheme for subsequent years.
